Welcome to JLOS
Julian Light Operatic Society or JLOS is an amateur operatic society based in Ealing, West London. We put on productions of Light operas or operetta for the enjoyment and education of our members and hopefully our audiences.
The comic operas of Gilbert and Sullivan are predominantly performed, and we are proud to preserve this great British tradition albeit updated for modern audiences. These productions are still, however, traditional in the sense that libretto and music remain essentially unaltered. We also ocasionally perform other light operas of composers such as Strauss and Offenbach.
Students or musicians in the early stages of their careers are encouraged to take part in our orchestras where they can gain valuable experience and enjoyment while similar singers or indeed experienced professionals have been known to play principal parts. These motivate and provide enjoyment and learning for our amateur chorus.

Operetta for All
We like to think that we bring light opera to the masses in that our ticket prices are much reduced to those of professional companies and therefore accessible to all. Most of our audience members are local, but we are delighted to say that we do have a wider following from G & S fans.
